Bill Cunningham

Bill Cunningham is a lifelong “wildernut”—an environmental activist who has worked for several conservation organizations, including the Montana Wilderness Association, when he served as its first full-time staffer in the mid-80s. He has written dozens of magazine articles and several books about Montana’s special wild places, including Montana Wildlands and Wild Montana. For several decades he taught wilderness field courses for UM’s Wilderness and Civilization Program and other universities and guided countless backpacking trips, from the Bob Marshall to the Greater Yellowstone. He is at his happiest when in the Wild.
