• Cut her activist teeth in the early 1970's with anti Colstrip petitions and the Allenspur Dam on the Yellowstone River.
• Founding member and President of the Madison Gallatin Alliance which tried to secure Wilderness protection for both the Madison and Gallatin Mountain Ranges. The Lee Metcalf Wilderness bill was signed into law in 1983 but the Gallatin Range was left out.
